Description:
Set of two falls near the southern edge of HMC property. Lower drop is a unique chute wedge between two large rock formations with an odd, spoon-like protrusion sticking out of the foaming water. Upper falls are split by a small, wooded island before dropping around a perched boulder.
Location:
Marquette County at 46°48' 25.6" N, 87°50' 52.99" W (map)
Nearby Falls:
Turkey Neck Falls (4.9 miles), Cedar Falls (5 miles), Wylie Dam Falls (6.1 miles), Cliff Falls (6.4 miles)
Area:
Hilly, wooded area with some swampy areas scattered about. The drive and walk to the falls is mostly logged out, but the area surrounding the falls is very old and scenic.
Trail:
25 minutes one-way
Follow the trail to the left where you parked to it's end, and then look for yellow markers. They're only a few of them, but they lead you east towards the river. The lower falls are a short distance upstream of the last marker, and the upper ones are visible from the top of the lower.
Drive:
2 hours 13 mins from Houghton, MI (change)
