Description:
A two-tiered falls with a steep, cascading top portion into a small pool. Water then gently pours around a rocky island for the lower portion.
Location:
Baraga County at 46°49' 32.94" N, 88°14' 47.31" W (map)
Nearby Falls:
Slide Falls (0.1 miles), Ecstasy Falls (0.2 miles), Slate River Falls (0.4 miles), Ravine River Falls (2.4 miles)
Area:
Deep canyon with mostly rock walls. Riverbed is jagged, angled slate with random boulders strewn about. Tall, ominous trees surround the river's canyon.
Trail:
60 minutes one-way
All of the falls along this stretch are upstream of the bridge. There is a path along the western bank that dies out near Slate River Falls (the first waterfall) and another, well-defined path that leads up the top of the eastern bank and goes all the way to Kukuck's Falls (the last waterfall), though it is too high up the gorge to provide good views.
Drive:
56 mins from Houghton, MI (change)
