Description:
Series of small falls flowing in tiny chutes and cracks through gray rocks from one deep, black pool to the next. Some of these drops flow along a straight-walled canyon while others through huge dome-shaped rocks.
Location:
Marquette County at 46°41' 2.12" N, 87°49' 34.66" W (map)
Nearby Falls:
Pinnacle Falls (1.8 miles), Wylie Dam Falls (2.8 miles), Big Pup Falls (6.1 miles), Bulldog Falls (6.3 miles)
Area:
Tall, untouched trees surround the falls and huge rocky outcroppings rise up from the forest floor. Downstream of the falls is mostly swampy with steep hills, thick pines, and plenty of beaver dams. Area around the falls is very remote and looks virtually untouched.
Trail:
60 minutes one-way
Cross the creek over the shaky 4-wheeler bridge and follow the main trail to the left. After a distance, a road will branch off to the right and a tiny trail heads to the left. Follow the trail down the riverbank to the beaver dam. Cross over the dam and climb the bank on the other side, then follow the creek upstream to the falls.
Drive:
2 hours 28 mins from Houghton, MI (change)
