- Area:
- Rugged, hilly area with plenty of swampy areas and rock outcroppings. Forest is mostly leafy and open with clumps of prickly underbrush.
- Trail:
- 90 minutes one-way
Follow the driveway a short distance, cutting to the right along the old, overgrown two-track that circles the hill. Keep the swamp to your right side as best as possible, traveling up/down the hills to keep dry. Cross the creek near the first beaver dam at the end of the first swamp and follow it to your left, entering a second swampy area. Follow this mostly grassy swamp to it's end at the earthen/beaver dam. Third swamp is the largest is past the creek here. Stay on the right side of it (the left side gets really wet and confusing, as it has several ponds draining in) until you reach it's end at a series of beaver dams and a small, pine-covered island. Falls are along the sudden gorge just past these last beaver dams and go to the bottom of the Sturgeon valley/swamp. - Drive:
- 1 hour 3 mins from Houghton, MI (change)
