Region:

Description:
A series of drops down the eastern side of Mont Ripley. Largest drop is located over halfway up the slope as a sudden fall over a steep rock face. Most of the drops are littered with boulders.
Location:
Houghton County at 47°7' 57.07" N, 88°33' 18.6" W (map)
Nearby Falls:
Huron Creek Falls (1.8 miles), Gooseneck Creek Falls (2.8 miles), Quincy Falls (4.2 miles), Hungarian Falls (5.8 miles)
Area:
Large, old pine trees with little underbrush. Once you're inside the woods, it's very easy to look around and find your way. If you follow the trail over the falls, you can get a great view of Michigan Tech from the slope.
Trail:
20 minutes one-way
After parking near the apartment building (the old Ripley School), head to the northeast entrance to the parking area. The north side of the parking lot is steep and covered in pine needles - climb up this and under the pine branches (if needed). Trail is easy to see once you're in the woods and goes mostly uphill. There are several forks along the way, and the trail sometimes intersects and weaves around the rocky creek bed. Stay close to the creek to avoid veering off onto the ski hill and away from the falls.
Drive:
5 mins from Houghton, MI (change)
