- Deep canyon with mostly rock walls. Riverbed is jagged, angled slate with random boulders strewn about. Tall, ominous trees surround the river's canyon.

All of the falls along this stretch are upstream of the bridge. There is a path along the western bank that dies out near Slate River Falls (the first waterfall) and another, well-defined path that leads up the top of the eastern bank and goes all the way to Kukuck's Falls (the last waterfall), though it is too high up the gorge to provide good views. Slide Falls is the third named drop along this stretch. - Drive:
